Jeff Balke I actually got my first coloring gig off Myspace just by posting some color work up. It was my own creations I was coloring, but I got more comments on my colors vs my illustrations (hmmm). So from them on I decided to color. A few people in the industry commented and gave me some work to color just to start building up my portfolio. While doing that, I had After Hours Press contact me and say they would like me to color Foxwood Falcons cover to cover. 2007 really started my career in coloring comics. Since then, I’ve worked on the Sire, Velvet Rope, Jesus Hates Zombies, The Secret Cross, Talon (just to name a few). Currently I’m working on a graphic novel called FootSoldiers and working on a few projects with Art Baltazar and Franco. In 2008 I created something called Sketch Coloring. This is my way of creating a sketch for someone at a show or signing. Sketch Coloring is when you bring up a sketch cover of any comic (or really anything black and white including sketches) and I color it right there on the spot. I’ve so far colored sketch covers, sketches, posters, prints, t-shirts to even a small stamp. The possibilities are endless. But this is my way of creating something “ONE OF A KIND”.
Art Baltazar Check this out! Art is a super-cartoonist machine from the heart of Chicago! He's all about the peace, love, and joy. He defines cartoons and comics not only as an artstyle, but as a way of life. Art started his funky secret art studio in 1994 with the his self-published comic book ..."The Cray-Baby Adventures". Since then, he created other comics such as "Gyro-Man", "Captain Camel & the Space Chicken", "Jimmy Dydo", "Lunar Lizard", "Meteor Mite" and the famous, "Patrick the Wolf Boy". This guy shows no signs of stopping! Artie has also had a few gigs with Warner Bros. and had a monthly comic strip in Disney Adventures Magazine called "GORILLA GORILLA"! Art has some cool character design skills and has recently completed the "Big Amoeba" graphic novel for Platinum Studios. Currently, Artie is the creative force behind The New York Times Best Selling Eisner Award Winning DC Comics' TINY TITANS and Co-Writer for Billy Batson and the Magic of SHAZAM! From small press to mainstream in a heartbeat! Art is living the dream! He stays home and draws comics and never has to leave the house! He lives with his lovely wife, Rose, big boy Sonny, little boy Gordon, and little girl Audrey! Right On!

Chris Burnham Chris Burnham once drew something so disgusting that it made his colorist nauseated to the point that he puked while changing his daughter's diaper. True. Burnham is currently working on super secret projects with Joe Casey and Peter David, and he's quietly hoping to induce them to vomit on their respective children. Or each other's children... that would be a hell of a story. Burnham drew some pretty gross stuff in the pages of X-Men: Divided We Stand, Elephantmen, and Nixon's Pals, but his work on the Marvel Mystery 70th Anniversary Special, though pretty spiffy to look at, was relatively tame.

Doug Mahnke Doug Mahnke was born in the Year of the Rabbit and embarked on a love affair with comics at the age of five, having received a pile of Spider-Man issues from a rugby-playing college student named Mike who lived in his basement. A consistent interest in the medium, coupled with some art skill, landed Doug a job of drawing comics for Dark Horse at the age of 24 (the date is known precisely, as it occurred just two weeks before he wed his lovely bride). His first gig was illustrating the moody detective story entitled Homicide, written by John Arcudi. The two went on to collaborate on Dark Horse's The Mask and their creator-owned series Major Bummer, originally published by DC. Since then, Doug has worked on a variety of titles (including Superman: The Man of Steel, JLA, Batman, Team Zero, Seven Soldiers: Frankenstein, Black Adam: The Dark Age, Stormwarch: P.H.D. and currently Green Lantern) with such writers as Joe Kelly, Judd Winick, Chuck Dixon, Grant Morrison, Christos Gage, Ed Brubaker, and Geoff Johns. Aaron Miller Aaron’s interest in fantasy art began small. Literally. As a kid, he couldn’t stop collecting and painting D&D minis. Aaron admits “I never even played the game. I just loved the minis and the art from the books. ”As a ‘grown up’ (or something like that) Aaron’s art career began in oils and fine art. A local restaurant would hang his work, while Aaron waited tables…a nice gig if you can get it. “Pretty soon, I got interested in computers and design, and went back to school to learn more.” And while work as a graphic designer helped pay the rent, “It took its toll on me by taking my attention away from painting and illustration. I knew then that something had to change.” That ‘something’ turned out to be IFX. “Honestly. A friend showed me his copy, and it became my transforming ‘aha’ moment.” Today, Aaron manages life drawing classes at TOJO Gallery in Chicago while maintaining his work as a graphic designer. But mostly… Aaron’s life has become all about sharing his passion for fantasy illustration--inspired by the work he sees other illustrators create; and by the pictures and images he imagines every day, in a world not too far from where Dungeons and Dragons still live.

Jason Seiler Born in the “wilds” of Wisconsin in 1977, Jason Seiler went on to study fine art illustration at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. Professionally, his first client was his High school principal who recognized his talent after he'd gotten in trouble for drawing parodies of his history teacher. She hired Jason to do caricatures of some faculty members and the rest is history! His work has been selected by the Society of Illustrators in New York, the Society of Illustrators in Los Angeles, and Communication Arts. Jason recently won a silver medal for his portrait of Elvis Costello for S.I.L.A.Some of his clients include, among many others, such companies as GOLF Magazine, The New YorkTimes, MAD Magazine, TIME, The Weekly Standard, Village Voice, Guitar Player Magazine, Universal Pictures, New Line Cinema and Disney. Capturing the subject truthfully ensures recognition; doing so with a sense of humor ensures forgiveness. In the words of George Bernard Shaw, "If you are going to tell people the truth, you'd better make them laugh.... Otherwise they'll kill you." Jason currently lives in Chicago with his lovely wife, Kat, and his two irresistibly beautiful daughters, Isabeau and Ava.

Cory Smith Having no formal training, but simply having passion for art, Cory Smith began his art educationin high school and continued at the local community college with Life Drawing courses where he learned anatomy that ultimately helped him develop his skills in sculpting. He also practiced in different mediums of art including pencil sketches, oil on canvas, and murals. After the introduction of Batman The Animated Series and the original new designs introduced by Bruce Timm, he was inspired by the show and started collecting the Warner Brothers Store Batman Maquettes. He was disappointed when the stores quickly closed and left all collectors in disbelief after producing only a few maquettes. Believing in himself of his skills and the knowledge of sculpting, he decided to pick up where WB left off and continued to finish the line and challenged himself to make them better in terms of quality and scale.... Many maquettes and 9 years later, he is nearing to finish his goal of sculpting the entire line. Cory has future plans to begin sculpting animated maquettes from other lines. So stay-tuned. His other interests include drawing, painting, collecting movie memorabilia, dvds, and spending time with my three sons. Ultimately, he would like to sculpt full-time as a career, and so with the help of his friends, a website was created to showcase his works.

With the growing reputation of sketch cards, Uko has been a sought after artist of collectors and dealers of his sketch card work with current and previous sets of The Complete Avengers, DC Legacy, The Women of Marvel, Batman Archives, Indiana Jones Heritage and Indiana Jones 4. Uko has had the distinction of helping with the sold out efforts of DC Legacy (750) and The Women of Marvel (616) by illustrating the most of many sketch artists. Buyers are amazed that he can do so many cards and still put the kind of quality needed to garner after value markets, which is amazing in itself. He has also worked on sets involving Lucasfilm properties such as Indiana Jones and Star Wars. Currently, he is working on a graphic novel titled FX-The Lost Land, written by Wayne Osborne to be published by IDW. He is doing both the pencils and inks on this series to be published later in 2010. Uko is also doing creator owned properties while still doing freelancing works for major companies. He also teaches The Comic Book Illustration class at The Columbus College of Art & Design in which he is very excited about.

Chris Summers Chris is a freelance Color Artist who has been professionally working in Comics for about 5 years – he couldn't ask for a better job. He was born in Abilene, TX and has been married for 15 year with one son. As a kid his dad really liked the old “War” comics like “Sgt. Rock, Fury and his Howling Commandos” and Thor and Conan so they were always lying around. Later on he started discovered comics on my own. He found the local comic shop and got into Judge Dread, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Elfquest. He went to college for a Graphic Design Degree anticipating a career in advertising. He learned Photoshop and other skills at school. After he left school he used these skills and more acquired online to color comics. After he began, he met other colorists online – who offered more help and critiques than any class he had taken. So far he has been blessed to work on some of his favorite titles: GI Joe, Dungeons & Dragons, Superman, Nightwing, The Perhapanauts and more. He is eager to work on more as his career continues.

Christopher Uminga Christopher Uminga is a Connecticut based artist who paints and draws things that make him happy. Children with black eyes, mini superheroes suspended in time, monsters hiding secrets, and many other creatures with huge eyes and broken hearts make up the cast of misfits that Christopher sees in his head. He places them carefully onto canvas or paper to give them life and allows them to play. Sometimes we see them playing nicely but most times they play a bit devilishly. Taking inspiration from Saturday morning cartoons, comic books and all things pulp and pop culture, Christopher creates a twisted little world to call his own.
